Jet Jaguar Looks To Be Taking Center Stage!
If you get me started talking about Godzilla, then I will eventually end up talking about Jet Jaguar. He made his one, and only, starring appearance in Godzilla Vs. Megalon. Jet Jaguar was actually created for a contest Toho put on back in the ‘70s. A child sent in the winning entry, and Toho was going to put him in his own solo adventure until they realized that nobody would watch that movie. So, they decided to include Godzilla in that story, and thus, Jet Jaguar was born.
He’s been a fan favorite ever since, but has only ever also appeared in video games and in the Japanese TV show, Godzilla Island. But, we’ve pretty much been denied any Jet Jaguar love in the states. Until now, that is, since Jet Jaguar appears to play a major role in Godzilla Singular Point. It looks like we’ll also be getting some more obscure Godzilla baddies like Titanosaurus, Anguirus, Gabera, and hey, even good old . Did I happen to mention that I’m really excited for this new show?
Challenges of LEGO Godzilla Projects
Constructing sets from the Jurassic World theme will give you an insight into the issues you might face while building a LEGO Godzilla figure. Designing and assembling a posable head and limbs is arguably the most challenging part of building a LEGO Godzilla figure.
Fortunately, the toymaker offers a variety of posable figures that can help you find the right solution for the model you’re constructing.
The figure’s stability and sturdiness are also among the obstacles you’ll have to overcome because even toys featured in standard LEGO sets tend to fall apart when meddled with.
Downloading the free LEGO Digital Designer app can help you create a custom Godzilla figure or complete a Godzilla build you stumbled upon online. However, you won’t need this software for builds with fewer than 500 pieces.

Does LEGO Make Godzilla Sets?
LEGO has never released a set that featured a buildable Godzilla figure. In addition, there are no indications that the toymaker is preparing a Godzilla set in the future. TOHO’s complex licensing process is one of the reasons why LEGO doesn’t offer products based on Godzilla movies.
The ideas section of the LEGO website features unique builds designed by fans and has quite a few Godzilla projects, but only a handful of these projects have more than a thousand supporters.
The company only considers releasing ideas with more than 10,000 supporters, so most active LEGO Godzilla projects don’t have enough support for potential mass production. Building a custom Godzilla figure is currently the only way to create a display model of this movie monster.
Sets from Architecture and Jurassic World themes contain elements builders can use to complete a LEGO Godzilla build.

Final Thoughts
Completing a LEGO Godzilla build requires excellent skills, creativity, and attention to detail. However, you don’t have to be a seasoned LEGO builder to construct small models of monsters from Godzilla movies.
Some builds can be completed with pieces from standard LEGO sets, so if you own a Majestic Tiger 31129 or LEGO Ideas Dinosaur Fossils 21320 set, you already have everything you need to build a LEGO Godzilla figure.
Moreover, you can combine several sets from the Architecture theme with custom LEGO Godzilla models and recreate famous movie scenes.

Design[]
Appearance
Jet Jaguar had a similar design and color scheme to its previous incarnations and keeps the trademark «grin» of the original. Being a mecha created by a small-scale constructor, it appears somewhat crude, with ribbed rubber connectors protecting the joints, perforated metal sheets covering its cockpit, and three-fingered hands that appear to be adapted from industrial robots. Jet Jaguar’s torso was rotund, allowing a human pilot to sit inside. JJ possesses a cubical backpack carrying its main battery bank, which can be ejected during an emergency.
Throughout the series, JJ had been continuously improved in response to the various kaiju threats that it faces. These modifications mostly concern Jet Jaguar’s mobility, initially using two squat humanoid legs, moving to a wheeled tripod base derived from an industrial robot, and finally two longer humanoid legs, more reminiscent of the original Jet Jaguar, after its second refit. It also wields the Anguirus Spear as its main weapon after this point. During the penultimate episode, it was equipped with a helipack sporting two large rotors attached to his backpack.
After the «Protocol to make Jet Jaguar Invincible» protocol took effect, Jet Jaguar experienced huge growth, becoming several stories tall and was able to fight Godzilla toe-to-toe.
Episode 13 Recap
In Episode 13, Yun attaches a flying accessory to the Jeat Jaguar and carries it towards the Godzilla in a truck. His plan is to use the trucks’s momentum for an effective takeoff.
Just when the truck falls from the bridge’s end, Yun starts the engine, and the Jet Jaguar launches itself into the sky. However, the timing couldn’t have been any worse since the Godzilla wakes up at that moment and attacks them with its blue flames.
Luckily, Yun lands on Godzilla’s back, but that isn’t a safe place either. Yun finds himself surrounded by monstrous parasites that live on the skin of that enormous monster.
Once again, Jet Jaguar arrives just in time to save Yun’s life. It has already one of its engines and is somehow managing to safeguard Yun from all the monsters around them.
Meanwhile, Mei is trying to find the secret code to stop the catastrophe. Pelops restores the virtual ship, hoping to get any lead, but it was of no use.
Things get even worse when another monster breaks into the place and tries to destroy SHIVA before the catastrophe hits. Mei decides to escape the place since there’s no point in avoiding the catastrophe if she dies now.
She finally releases that there’s no secret code for stopping the catastrophe, and extermination of humanity is unavoidable. That’s when a Sanskrit song reaches Mei years.
It’s the same song that they have been receiving along with radio waves from the very first episode. She asks Pelops to find everything about this song, but the A.I goes offline before it could do anything.
Just when everyone thought that there’s no hope of survival. A crazy idea strikes Yun’s mind, what if the secret code to stop this catastrophe is the Jet Jaguar itself.
Yes, his prediction turns out to be accurate. The Jet Jaguar expands into almost the size of Godzilla and takes the creature out with itself in a self-destructive explosion.
The Dedication to Weird Science
Singular Point is, almost to a fault (we’ll get to that later), almost more of a show about weird theoretical science than it is giant monsters. The show is fascinated with the idea of temporal physics, a crucial through line through its entire narrative arc. But the way it blends advanced science — imagined through the lens of its near-future 2030 setting, where public technology largely looks the same but advanced AI, powerful supercomputers, and other wild technology can be in the hands of governments and independent shadow organisations — with elements of folklore and myth, with religious imagery and human history, creates a very fascinating vibe for the series.
This isn’t an uncommon thing in kaiju material in the first place — the idea that these creatures are a part of our planet’s history, and a reaction to the way human civilisation has evolved off of the back of exploitation of that natural history — but Godzilla Singular Point’s embrace of it instead of the easy option of a “giant monsters attack!” narrative leads to some head-twisting moments of cleverness that really elevate the show when it needs it.

Godzilla returns to the world of anime with his newest Netflix anime series Godzilla: Singular Point. This time he’s bringing a kaiju-size serving of hard science fiction into the mix!
This year was a big year to be a kaiju fan! We had Godzilla vs. Kong earlier this year, several anime series such as Pacific Rim: The Black, SSSS.Dynazenon, and now Godzilla: Singular Point, has made its international debut on Netflix. With a rock star collaboration between Studio Bones (My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and Orange (BEASTARS), this is one of the franchise’s most ambitious endeavors yet. It was quickly one of my most anticipated anime releases of !
However, Godzilla’s last foray into the world of anime had me very underwhelmed with Polygon’s Godzilla Anime Trilogy, so does Godzilla: Singular Point prove Godzilla can work in the anime medium? The answer is a simple one: yes!
Jet Jaguar
Godzilla may be in Singular Point’s title, but the hero of the show is, without a doubt, Otaki Factory’s trusty anti-kaiju mecha (turned sentient, giant-sized super robot by the climax), Jet Jaguar. From its clunky origins to its heroic sacrifice, Jet Jaguar — thanks to an upgrade from Yun’s experimental AI midway through the season — goes on a journey of self-discovery and actualization that’s just as fleshed out and fascinating as any of the human characters in the show. You love to root for it, you feel stressed out when it takes a beating, and cheer when it finally becomes the key to saving the day in the climax. Jet Jaguar is a legend, and don’t you forget it.

Gathering the Pieces for a LEGO Godzilla Project
The number of parts you need for a Godzilla build doesn’t depend solely on the figure’s dimensions since even a 9-inch tall Godzilla model can contain more than 2,000 pieces.
Increasing the model’s level of detail or constructing posable jaws and limbs are some of the factors that can inflate the build’s piece count. A miniature Godzilla model can be built with fewer than fifty pieces, but these figures barely resemble the famous monster.
Part lists aren’t available for all builds, so if you decide to create a model of Godzilla smashing a building, you’ll have to look for pieces that fit the segment you’re constructing on your own.
I recommend choosing a project like Godzilla Skeleton that allows you to use pieces from an existing LEGO set if you have never attempted to build a custom LEGO Godzilla figure before.
Experienced LEGO builders can benefit from ordering building instructions for large-scale LEGO Godzilla models with more than 4,000 pieces.

That Post-Credits Tease
How do you instantly make a story that feels satisfyingly concluded suddenly feel like it’s blown wide open and you’re dying to know more? Add the hubris of a scientist who’s deciding to make Mechagodzilla, apparently.
The final moments of Singular Point tease that the theoretical scientist at the heart of the season’s temporal mystery, Michiyuki Ashihara, is not as dead as everyone else thought he was, and has actually been working in secret to build his own version of Godzilla, using technology from the mysterious tech cabal SHIVA to construct a mechanical frame around the bones of an old, inert kaiju skeleton that, well… it’s Mechagodzilla. Given the seeming definitive exit of the King of the Monsters, and his purely antagonistic status in the show’s first season, bringing in Mechagodzilla raises some interesting questions should the show continue.

… That the Dedication to Weird Science Was a Little Too Dedicated
OK, so the vibe of Singular Point’s weird science is fascinating and brings in the right kind of strangeness you want in a monster movie project. But it’s also a lot. So much of Singular Point’s narrative involves textually very smart people just repeating fake buzzwords like “Orthagonal Diagonalizer” at each other over and over, or talk about how some impossible temporal physics theory is both impossible and yet also has to work because the plot simply demands it.
Whether it’s through in-person conversations, or more often than not, shots of rapidly scrolling mobile phone screens as protagonists Yun, Mei, and AI companion Pelops II rapidly text each other back and forth while also narrating their conversation (which, if you watch the original Japanese dub with English subtitles, is eye-searingly difficult to comprehend at times, as katakana and kanji scream across your screen while you try to listen to the dialogue and read the subtitles), a lot of it is very dry to take in, and there’s so much of it. It’s not very interesting to watch at best, and frustratingly and unsatisfyingly dense at worst.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus (Crunchyroll and Adult Swim)

Why We Can’t Wait: Produced by anime legend and Cowboy Bebop creator, Shinichiro Watanabe, Blade Runner: Black Lotus is a brand new anime set in the Blade Runner cyberpunk universe, set to feature some prominent characters from the franchise. Even if we don’t know much about the plot of the show, this is an exciting concept. After all, Blade Runner inspired tons of classic works of anime, from Akira, to Ghost in the Shell, and even Cowboy Bebop, so to bring the franchise to the medium it influenced the most seems like a no-brainer. The colorful visuals as well as the epic and complex sci-fi concepts of the original film seem perfectly built for the animation medium, which is limited only by your imagination.

Yasuke (Netflix)

Why We Can’t Wait: Based on the fascinating story of Yasuke, a real man who became the first Black samurai and fought alongside a feudal lord in 16th century Japan. The show comes from LeSean Thomas and stars Lakeith Stanfield as the titular Yasuke. The logline for the six-episode series reads: “In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, the greatest ronin never known, Yasuke, struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. But when a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords.” The promise of “a Japan of magic and mechs” means this will be more than just a period drama. The studio behind the last season of Attack on Titan is in charge of this show, which has one of the coolest concepts we’ve heard for this year, and a kickass lead voice actor. If you’re a fan of either Samurai Champloo or Afro Samurai, this should be right up your alley.
Godzilla Figures Made by Third-party Brands
The Godzilla store on Amazon features thousands of products inspired by monsters from this movie franchise, including a broad spectrum of action figures made by brands such as Polar Lights, Diamond Select Toys, Playmates Toys, and Rubie’s.
Models like King Ghidorah, Godzilla 1/144 scale model, or Mechagodzilla Vinyl Bust Bank Figure can be an excellent source of inspiration for your next LEGO project. Still, these toys are preassembled, and they won’t be of much use if you’re trying to figure out how to construct a figure with posable limbs.
King Kong with an axe, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, or a set with ten Godzilla toys are some of the options you can consider as a substitute for a LEGO Godzilla build.
However, brands that operate under the TOHO license don’t produce toys that come with buildings or vehicles, so you won’t be able to use their toys to recreate famous scenes from Godzilla movies.

Why We Can’t Wait: A show based on an insanely popular video game franchise, DOTA is already an exciting prospect, especially when focusing on the high fantasy aspect of the game. Add in the animation studio behind The Legend of Korra and you have show you can’t miss. The series will follow the story of popular character Davion, a Dragon Knight who gets involved in a story larger than himself that includes princesses and dragons. Netflix has had a good track record with fantasy animation, thanks to the success of both Blood of Zeus and Castlevania, so it should be an exciting time for fans of both high fantasy and video games to check out this animated adaptation.
The Disconnect Between its Protagonists
What doesn’t help then is that Yun and Mei, outside of bookend moments in the opening and ending of the series, spend almost all of their time apart, working on investigating the ‘Red Dust’ phenomenon that’s heralding the rise of kaiju across the world in different ways. While Yun and his colleagues at Otaki Factory focus on dealing with the Kaiju head-on through enhancing Jet Jaguar as Japan’s unlikely anti-kaiju weapon, Mei is globetrotting with theoretical scientists and SHIVA agents as she explores the temporal mysteries behind the strange dust kaiju like Godzilla create as they arrive on humanity’s shores. But you never get the feeling that there’s really a link between their narratives until the climax, even though they’re connected through their shared use of Yun’s AI program — which itself gets split into two distinct personalities in Mei’s AI pal, Pelops II, and Yun’s phone OS, which is eventually uploaded to become Jet Jaguar’s synthetic personality — and through back and forth texting throughout the series.
It makes their own emotional arcs feel very isolated, and when it’s time for them to actually reunite in the very final moments of the show, just weirdly unearned. Future seasons might actually give them the chance to make an actual connection together, but for now, it just feels very frustrating.
